Bending Branches 2010

From the start, thinking of better ways to propel paddlers.

In 1982, whitewater and touring canoeist Dale Kicker and flat-water racer Ron Hultman teamed up to create the first composite-tipped canoe paddle. This unique innovation revolutionized the paddle industry and gave birth to Bending Branches.

Since then, paddles from this small, privately held company in Wisconsin have propelled more than a million paddlers to places and experiences that are something to write home about.

And this spirit of pushing forward continues to drive Bending Branches today. We're committed to bringing new features to the water that enhance your paddling experience.

Recreational Canoe Paddles
Whether you are a traditionalist looking for simple clean lines or you have an eye for both beauty and economy, we have a wood canoe paddle for you. Our recreational canoe paddles offer a lightweight, affordable solution with hand made beauty and unsurpassed quality. The Beavertail, with a traditional canoe paddle design, is great for deep water paddling. Or, choose between our recreational flat water paddles. The Loon comes in a maple color with an asymmetrical classic palm grip and the Traveler comes in a red alder with a symmetrical free-style grip. We even have a well-balanced kid’s paddle that can take the inevitable abuse your child may dish out, yet with a T-grip that won't slip out of young hands. All Bending Branches paddles are built with a Rockgard® tip to protect the paddle from rocks, debris and water making our paddles the most durable wood canoe paddles on the market.

Performance Canoe Paddles

Our performance canoe paddles are great for wilderness tripping and flat water paddling on both rivers and lakes. Choose from our hand crafted straight or bent shaft paddles. The BB Special and Cruiser Plus bent shaft paddles are both quality flat water paddling options; the Cruiser Plus offers significantly more bite and is designed for a more powerful paddler. The Arrow is a durable all purpose paddle for at home on lakes and rivers, or step up to the more durable Explorer Plus for wilderness tripping. You simply cannot beat the design and durability of our recreational family of kayak paddles. All come two-piece with blades made of lightweight, durable, glass-filled polypropylene. The Sunrise GS kayak paddle has a lightweight fiberglass shaft that will make paddling seem effortless. The Infusion AS features comfy foam grips or try the Sunrise AS with a durable, black e-coated aluminum shaft and vinyl grips. Our entry-level Whisper kayak paddle is perfect for tooling around the lake. If you are looking for a kids paddle, you can’t go wrong with the lightweight Splash kayak paddle made especially for children.

Performance Touring Kayak Paddles
BB performance touring kayak paddles are built for day tripping, river running, exploring or sea kayaking. Our design team has taken care to put all the performance features you demand into our blade designs, giving you the power you need. Our highly visible yellow and orange blades are an injection-molded, reinforced nylon/fiberglass blend. The Glide and Slice kayak paddles are designed to meet the needs of performance touring kayakers. The Glide paddle series features a high performance touring blade shape, ideal for low angle, relaxed paddling. The Slice paddle series features a stiff, durable blade shaped for more aggressive, high angle paddling. Both series are available with a glass shaft, a lightweight T-700 carbon shaft (hybrid), and with our telescoping ferrule (Plus) feature.
