Traditionally most sit-on-tops are designed to be extremely stable. To do this, designers must add width and make sure the characteristics of the hull react accordingly to ensure a high level of initial stability. The Vector 14 isn't your "traditional" sit-on-top. This kayak was designed to push the performance envelope. While the secondary stability is high the initial stability allows paddlers to lean turn or sit it up on edge with ease. In fact, the design premise of the Vector 14 was to make sure the hull performs very similar to our high end sea kayaks. This unique kayak will take sit-on-top kayaking to a whole new level.

additional information from Bel Haven Paddlesports on the Necky Vector 14.
Necky Touring Seat
Made of durable molded foam, this seat is designed specifically to reduce pressure on your sciatic nerve. By actually improving flow around the gluteus maximus, it helps prevent your feet and legs from falling asleep when you're paddling longer distances. For added comfort, the seat does not retain water. It also features an integral tether that attaches to the seat of the boat, keeping it in place when car-topping. The supportive back band provides ample lumbar support, movement and comfort for most body types. Many of our touring kayaks feature this seat.
Quick Seal Hatch with
Cross Lock™ Buckle System
The Quick Seal hatch features a unique gasket that seals perfectly to provide dry storage. The easy to open Cross Lock Buckle System makes getting into the hatch a breeze. The "X" pattern is achieved with four straps and one quick release buckle. The low anchor points of the straps allow for excellent pressure that is evenly distributed around the hatch cover. Simple, secure and easy to use.
Scupper Valve
Patent pending valve designed to help keep water from entering your kayak via the scupper holes AND to drain any water that may come over the side while you are paddling.
Optional Necky Rudder
The aluminum alloy used in our standard rudder can take lots of abuse, bending, and rebending before it breaks. With some care this aluminum rudder should last a lifetime. When deployed you use the foot pedals to guide the kayak to the right or the left. A rudder is used for keeping your boat on track, especially when the weather conditions change. It can help make your journey safer and more enjoyable.
