Like the wonderful wading waterbird for which it’s named, whether you’re exploring coastal lagoons, mangrove swamps, salt marshes or inland freshwater lakes and rivers, Jackson Kayak’s Ibis is right at home. It doesn’t get any better than this. For comfort, a padded knee area combines with our super-comfy, removable Elite seat that’s a dream on and off the water.

The Ibis delivers on performance and aesthetics thanks to its highly efficient and straight-tracking hard-chined hull and a look inspired by traditional kayaks. Our unique approach to gear storage means the Ibis is a delight on day trips and a real workhorse for overnighters. Stuff your daily needs in the on-deck storage bag for easy and quick access to gear and goodies without having to open a hatch. At camp at night, park the Elite seat next to the campfire and gain hatchless access to overnight gear stored in a dry bag behind the seat.

Outfitting

This Ibis Outfitting is Designed as a complete package that makes this boat more functional, more fun, and more comfortable than anything in its class.

The overall concept of the outfitting is to combine the best on the water experience, with the best off water, at your destination, experience. The Ibis seat and gear storage are both removable and ready to use once you get to where you are going!

Elite Seating System- The Elite Seat itself is one of the most innovative and functional designs in the industry. A steel framed seat that is a comfortable all day in the boat, keeps you up and out of the water (water drains through it and it is not on the bottom of the boat), and you can pull it out easily for on the shore use. This makes it ready for camping, picnicking, and even using it at home on your deck! The seat is easily adjustable forward or back on the welded in hull support and seat receiver. The elite seat sits about 4″ above the hull providing a much better view from the cockpit. Higher seating means it is easier to see around you, and is quite an improved paddling experience. The adjustment area allows you to trim your Ibis based on how you have it loaded. Put lots of gear in the front and you’ll want to move the seat back. Put a big, heavy, cooler behind you and you’ll want to move the seat forward. A simple bungee attachment keeps the seat in place and allows you to remove it quickly without even removing them. For another 2″ of elevation for photography, fishing, or seeing better down into the water, there is a bonus seat position all of the way back that raises the seat even more.

Stern Dry Bag/Rear Deck rigging- When considering a rear hatch, we studied the habits of paddlers of this type of boat and realized that everyone puts their gear in a dry bag, before putting it into a hatch (if they are smart, as no hatch is perfectly dry). We looked at how gear gets used and realized that having quick access to your gear in a dry bag is the best option for this type of recreational kayak. This dry bag has a plastic insert that maintains a nice, smooth, contoured shape. It is as much for function as it is for aesthetics. You can open the dry back without taking it out of the bungees and quickly add or take your stuff from it and close it again as the plastic insert holds it open nicely. The way this is meant to be used is when you arrive at your destination, you simply grab your Elite Seat in one hand, and your dry bag in the other and carry it easily to the campsite, or picnic site, or beach and sit down and start enjoying the experience. The rear deck rigging is designed to hold the dry bag securely, but also works great for a cooler, tackle box, or other large items.

Day Hatch- A small day hatch is standard and is perfect for dry storage of your valuables like phones, keys, wallets, a point and shoot camera, and other small items you may want quick access to.

Bow Deck Rigging- For one handed paddle storage, or keeping gear/jacket, etc.. Stored up front, the bow deck rigging gives you more storage options.

Knee and shoulder pads- The cockpit rim is well padded for your legs when paddling, and your shoulder when carrying.

Footbraces- Easy to adjust foot braces assure that you have control over your kayak and extra power in your forward strokes for long paddles, and a comfortable place to rest your feet.

Paddle Holder- there is an easy, clip on bungee paddle holder on the right side of the Ibis to keep your paddle secure and out of the way when you are birdwatching, taking photos or video, or just hanging out.

Soft webbing grab/carrying handles are standard.
