This boat started off with great genealogy, and got a lot of extras in the evolution process. The basis is a super comfortable, stable easy to river run kayak, with lots of great playboating features neatly designed into it.
Starting off with an incredible hull that combines stability, speed, looseness, and good river running, plus the sidewall, deck package that provides a wonderfully balanced vertical move boat, for squirting, cartwheels, loops, and all of the hard moves too.(AKA-playboating) Ample footroom, and leg room are designed in for all day paddling.
The Paddler’s Advantage: Expect to be blown away with the combination of ease of paddling, lightweight construction, and comfort during your river run, and the high performance feel for surfing, and all playboating. This is a “go to” boat for kayak schools and beginners as well.
Beginners: ideal boat for learning the roll, and for a steep learning curve. Learn river running and playboating in one boat, have more fun on smaller water and be comfortable out there.
Intermediate paddlers: Watch your playboating skills develop quickly as this boat is a joy to play in. Hit up harder rivers and feel confident.
Expert boaters: First choice among Team JK hitting up the Niagra Gorge and other big water runs. The Fun series has also been used to win World Cup and USA Team Trials events!
New Fun- Version 2010:
The new Hull shape keeps the bow from pearling for better surfing and river running.
New sidewalls and deck improves cartwheels, loops, and other playboating moves.
Rolls easier with new cockpit and sidewall shape.
More footroom- fits a larger range of people.

Choosing between SL or Elite?
So, you’ve decided which Jackson whitewater model is best for you, now you get to decide between two versions of that model. Relax, either way you go, you’re guaranteed to get a great boat! But both have advantages.
SL (Super Linear)
The hull is made from Superlinear, a metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene that is the whitewater industry standard. This stuff is super-strong and fairly easy to repair, in the unlikely event that you ever break it.
A comfy, foam padded seat sits atop a welded-in plastic track. Simple and easy to adjust.
Adjustable, contoured hip pads and backband, same as in the Elite version.
SL Funs feature adjustable, cut-foam footblocks.
And best of all, Jackson’s SL models are competitively priced!
ELITE
The hull is made from crosslinked polyethylene. No other major whitewater brand uses crosslink, despite its superior impact strength and abrasion resistance. Why? Crosslink is more expensive, takes longer to process, and requires more highly-skilled molders. Superlinear is tough. Crosslink is tougher and can be molded a bit lighter.
Elites feature a seat with “Sweet Cheeks”, Jackson’s unique, custom-fit butt-pad, for all-day comfort.
The Elite seat sits atop a composite beam that integrates into the foam walls, providing unparalleled hull stiffness and total outfitting integrity.
Elite Funs have “Happy Feet”, another Jackson exclusive. Happy Feet are a customizable footbrace system that not only adjusts for length, but actually contours to fit your foot shape and angle.
